” EMPTY WITHERED HEART ” TO BE PUBLISHED

I’m happy to say that my poem ” Empty, Withered Heart ” has been accepted for publication in the Spring/Summer issue of ” Illogical Muse “, which shall retain first publication rights as of March 28, 2012.  Awesome.

SURREAL SKETCHES OF CHICAGO IN E MINOR by Jeffrey Littrell

like a balloon dancing

on the wind

aimlessly drifting

Fellini-esque

you lay beside me

eyes fluttering

carried gently along

embraced by slumber

next morning

we step off the train

as blue diamond raindrops

illuminate Lake Shore

I kissed you underneath

the Sunday Tribune

then gazed at the rainbow

over Navy Pier

LIFETIME MOVIE by Jeffrey Littrell

in hope of sweet revenge

my hatred I embrace

I’ll lure you close

with tied so sweet

a ribbon made of lace

I’m a train that has derailed

I’m a door that swings unhinged

I stand alone in shadows

waiting

in hope of sweet revenge

EARLY MORNING OUTLAW’S LAMENT by Jeffrey Littrell

 Mist on the hillside
Diamond raindrops cut the darkness
Outside the window comes
plaintive songs of mournful resignation

I have the heart of a prisoner
with a child’s wanderlust
My romantic ambiguity
belies a smile no one will trust

Shadows in the forest                                                                                                                                                   Two deer spring forth from within
Daring to face
the new truth of the budding dawn
Oh, to possess their fearless resolve !

” BREAKUP ” by Jeffrey Littrell

the finality of it all

was in stark contrast

to the promise

of the illuminating dawn

the frost from our breath

confirmed our presence

in that moment

or else

I would have sworn

we had completely dissolved

SEEKING SOLACE by Jeffrey Littrell

I feel like my brain is broken

I feel like my soul’s been stripped

my truth is never spoken

my sanity’s not equipped

to be dealing with the stone cold harsh

reality of this shit

it’s life or death

blood or breath

I’m a genius idiot

this path is often traveled

though the journey never done

emotions lie unraveled

the battle never won

I will beg for mercy

inside this web that I have spun

gasping, crying, choking, dying

my Hell has just begun

In darkness I crawl

my fear is my comfort

backed up to the wall

I ask for my solace

HELPLESSLY SPELLBOUND by Jeffrey Littrell

her sunshine smile

radiant beauty glowing

so enraptures me
